So how did you do? I hope these Greenie Tips have been helpful for you. I was inspired to write this blog after watching Julie / Julia last Holiday season. It has been a long year but a green and prosporous one! I look forward to a Greener year in 2011. I have written my Personal Goals, my Business Goals and my Green Iniatives for 2011. As I look back on 2010, I see that I have accomplished most of my Green goals, half of my business and some of my personal goals. I look forward to even more in 2011.

A Few Tips to Make Your Christmas Greener...

Don't "indulge" or waste holiday food.
Try reusable Candy Canes for your tree. (We have used these as decorations for years).
Give gifts that can be used such as food, clothing, coffee. Eliminate frivilous "impulse item" gifts you often find at the last minute that people hardly use.

Genuine linoleum, not to be confused with vinyl, is a classic, invented nearly 150 years ago and still completely relevant today. Environmentally preferred linoleum is made from natural, raw materials. Linseed oil, which comes from the flax plant, is the primary ingredient. (In Latin, linum is the word for linseed and oleum means oil.) Other ingredients include wood or cork powder, resins and ground limestone. Mineral pigments provide the rich colors. The ingredients are mixed together, then rolled out between two cylinders (a process called "calendaring") onto a jute backing. The linoleum is then cured in ovens for 14 to 21 days.

Example: Many are opposing bottled water. Sometimes while being green, bottled water is necessary. When walking or riding a bicycle as opposed to driving, one may need to purchase bottled water. They may not have the ability to carry around a bottle of their own. The key is that one should be responsible and consider the environment in all activities. If purchasing bottled water is necessary, be responsible by reusing and then recycling the bottle.
